The University of Fribourg enjoys an ideal geographical situation in the heart of Switzerland, at the border between the French- and German-speaking parts. This makes it a truly bilingual university in Europe. In addition, a growing number of courses are now given in English and the university exhibits a high degree of internationality attracting students and professors from nearly a hundred different countries.

Research done in Fribourg is highly recognized and valued, as well as directly implemented in advanced courses. In 2005, new buildings, Pérolles 2 – equipped with the latest technologies – were inaugurated to host the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences and also some courses for Law students. Likewise, the Faculty of Law is often considered to be the best in Switzerland. The university is constantly progressing and building up its academic offer such as the Master of Arts in European Business and the new Department of Nanotechnologies.
